International Day of Happiness

In 2012, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution recognizing happiness as a “fundamental human goal,” and decreed that the International  Day of Happiness was to be observed every year on March 20.

Since 2014, Live Happy has taken part in the discussion at the United Nations, and:

  • Hosted 240+ happiness walls in seven countries.
  • Assisted hundreds of people in constructing their own walls in businesses, schools, shopping centers and other public spaces.
  • Had more than 940 million media impressions, including 270 television and radio segments nationwide and 740+ online and print stories.

A Happy Act is a small action that makes someone’s day a little brighter and is a daily part of Live Happy’s mission to help make the world a happier place. The #HappyActs campaign encourages people to do and share their #HappyActs on social media.

Siince 2014, thousands of people performed #HappyActs to help raise money for Big Brother Big Sisters in the United States and Canada. We received more than 291 million media impressions during the 2016 International Day of Happiness and almost 300 million in 2017.

The Bottom Line:

What’s good for employees is good for business. When employees feel good about their lives:

  • They will be fully engaged at work.
  • They will bring their best selves to work every day.
  • Organizations gain a competitive advantage from employees’ maximized performance.
  • There is reduced turnover and enhanced engagement.
